THE QUEST FOR OLD-FASHIONED CHICKEN
The Beeappy farming foray began with mushy chicken from the grocery store deli. We craved the old fashioned bird the FFA Chapter produced at the Cedar Lakes Arts & Craft Fair. It wasn’t just the outdoor cooking but the bird itself. Beeappy Farm had its mission-raise birds you could sink your teeth into! We learned to grow them out, breed them, dress them out and compost the remains. The birds are available for sale in all stages.
Our goal is to have our livestock working not just the lush rolling areas but roaming across the hillsides picking up little goodies. The bees work the buckwheat to provide food for the turkeys, the turkeys scratch and open up the ground for grasses for the horses, the horses provide manure for compost and the compost breaks down everything to start the cycle over.
